Pediatric Counselling (Age 4-12)

I’m Kelsey (she/her) with Carter’s Counselling! I specialize in working with children aged four to twelve years old. With a background in social work since 2017, I discovered my passion in supporting children and youth, especially those navigating trauma, abuse, family separation, anxiety, and complex family dynamics. My experience spans across various settings, including schools, community programs, supported living environments, and crisis intervention contexts. Drawing from my foundation in sociology, I put a strong emphasis on child development and interpersonal skills, enriching my practice with a holistic understanding of my clients' needs.

Operating from a trauma-informed approach, I value and recognize my clients' inherent strengths, working collaboratively to discover empowering solutions. I aim to always create and provide a secure and supportive environment within my practice, paving the way for meaningful therapeutic interventions and positive outcomes. Thank you for letting me be a part of your village!

Individual Youth (Age 16-17), Adult, and Couples Counselling

Hello, I’m Jennifer (she/her)! I am a Registered Social Worker at The Village YXE supporting Adults and Youth (age 16-17). I graduated with my Social Work Degree in 1999 and have been a Registered Social Worker since 2005. Over the years I have worked with the Saskatchewan Health Authority in mental health and addictions as well as at the University of Saskatchewan Student Wellness Center supporting students. I am currently with Home Care on the Seniors First Team through SHA. Since May of 2019, I have also been working in private practice and am delighted to join the amazing practitioners at The Village YXE to continue this journey.

I use a variety of counselling methods to assist people in connecting with themselves, to offer a safe space to be able to see their own worth, to invite permission to implement boundaries based on their needs, and to build positive relationships in their world. I believe that a large component of caring for our Mental Health has foundation in my Fist Bump Concept: our sleep, our eating and fueling, our movement, our connections, and our comfort and soothing. I love what I do. I am honoured to hear people’s stories and be present with them as they shift their perspective of themselves and make room for their needs. I am always inspired by the stories of resilience, strength, and love that flourish despite hardships and trauma.

My areas of professional interest are: Relationship Issues, Self Esteem, Family Dynamics, Emotions, Communication, Boundaries, Women’s Issues, Caregivers Support, Life Transitions (marriage, a new baby, parenting, separation, divorce, end of life), Coping Skills, Grief and Loss, Chronic Illness, Anxiety, Depression, Neurodiversity, Mindfulness, Stress Management, School and Work Stress, Healing from Abuse and Trauma. I will always do my very best to support you in clarifying issues, exploring options, and developing strategies that fit for you to implement. I use a combination of Trauma Informed Care, Strength Based Approach, Family Systems Theory, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy during the counselling process.

My Mother always used to say that it takes a Village to raise a child, and I have learned that it continues to take a Village to maintain an adult! I am so honored to be a part of your Village.
