We are a collaborative, community based space that focuses on whole family success through a variety of disciplines. Through a full complement of service practitioners, The Village YXE provides services for infants, children, pregnant and postpartum people, and families.
The Village YXE came about because two little mamas sat and thought “wouldn’t it be nice if everyone could find their village?”
As mothers and women who have worked in the educational and healthcare systems, we both know first hand the difficulties that families face in accessing the services they need to thrive. Finding your village and feeling supported throughout your journey is something that every parent, caregiver, and child deserves.
So where do you find that village? Look no further.
Meet the Founders

Kirsten Seto
Kirsten is a Speech Language Pathologist by trade, and a child at heart. Raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Kirsten completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees at Minot State University in 2016. She started her career working in the education system in Calgary AB, where she quickly learned of the gaps in service.
While newly married, and juggling a full case load, Kirsten developed her own SLP Practice to allow her to make even more of a difference. It’s A Speech Thing was born, and quickly grew from one therapist, to an entire suite of diverse and complimentary SLP’s. As Kirsten’s company grew, so did her family - she and her partner welcomed their baby boy, Henry in 2021.
Kirsten’s journey as a new mom has had her play the parts of provider and parent - her son was diagnosed with several allergies, which has allowed her to view our health care system from the inside out. She knows the difficulties, frustrations, expenses, and toll dealing with a diagnosis can take on a family, and that makes her an even more qualified provider.
In owning her own private practice, she was looking for a space to provide quality services in a community minded space with complimentary practitioners all around her.
The Village was what she needed and along with Karlie, The Village YXE is what they created.

Karlie Hudon
Karlie was born and raised in Prince Albert, SK and after high school she packed her bags and made her way to the United States to pursue her post-secondary education in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Karlie completed her Master's degree at the University of Houston in 2012.
For several years she worked as a Speech Language Pathologist primarily at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston supporting both the neonatal and adult populations with feeding and swallowing difficulties. Since moving back home to Canada she worked at Jim Pattison’s Children’s Hospital and The Royal University Hospital in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, the Pediatric Unit, and Postpartum Maternal Care Unit until 2023.
She has assessed and treated thousands of children with diagnoses such as traumatic brain injury, cleft palate, failure to thrive, chronic aspiration, oral ties, and picky eating. She has played an integral role in ensuring that all of her clients and patients feel supported and safe along their feeding journeys.
In 2021 Karlie opened her own private practice as she experienced firsthand the lack of guidance, support, and education there is for caregivers and infants in the province.
Karlie is on a mission to help expecting, new, and veteran parents feel calm, at ease, prepared, and supported through the feeding journey with their little ones no matter what challenges they may or may not face.
Everyone deserves to have a village to support them and alongside Kirsten, Karlie is so grateful that you have chosen The Village YXE to be a part of yours <3
