Deb MacDonald

B. Sc., MOT

Occupational Therapist & Owner of Kindred Care Occupational Therapy

Services for Children Ages 1+

Hi! I'm Deb (she/her), an occupational therapist who specializes in pediatric services. I have always known that I wanted to work with children and their families to help them reach their full potential in everyday activities.

Originally from Saskatoon, SK where I completed my BSc in Kinesiology at the University of Saskatchewan, my husband and I moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba to further our education. I completed my Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Manitoba in 2017. Since graduating I have been working full time with the pediatric population, in a variety of settings including school, home and in office.

Over the last few years, I have learned the importance of slowing down and enjoying building relationships with clients. Operating from a decolonized and trauma informed approach, I value the child's strengths and their individual needs. Over the course of my career I have assessed and treated many children with varying needs including: emotional regulation difficulties, self-care skill development, transitions, mental health, fine motor skills, sensory processing, home modifications, adaptive equipment, parent coaching and much more!

I am also a mom to two young kids, a one and three year old, who have kept me on my toes and challenged me in many ways! I have learned first-hand the importance of building strong relationships with my own children and how this is the foundation in therapy. Aside from my two children, I have three fur babies (2 dogs and a cat) who keep us active! When not working, I enjoy spending time outside, playing soccer, reading, completing puzzles, camping and playing board games.

Saskatoon has always been our home, where our village is located and I cannot wait to be a part of your journey with The Village YXE.  I am here to help you and your family in any way possible to help your child (or yourself) reach your full potential. Thank you for letting me be a part of your village!

Note: Occupational Therapy services are not able to be direct billed. A receipt will be provided for you to submit to your insurance should you have OT benefits or a health spending account.
